Three years ago shooting a wedding in South Africa I discovered the recipe for a good Bok wedding; a sense of humour, Castle beer, a sense of humour, big strapping fellas that can shed a tear, a sense of humour, hunks of Hartebeest, and sense of humour. Add a sense of humour to that list too. Yesterday’s Wasing Park wedding between South African born David and English rose Jemma prompted memories of that fabulous week 36 months ago, although with rather less call this time around for a braai cooked Hartebeest. We Brits can demonstrate similar humourous resolve too, as Jemma’s father Doug proved. My favourite line from a speech for many an hour now will surely come from this wedding when Doug proclaimed something along the lines of; “Our lady folk may call and think upon us less fairer sex sometimes as ‘morons,’ but remember Jemma, David, is your moron.” My own wife has taken to this concept already. Within 24 hours, it’s my new name around the house. Thanks Doug.

Thanks Kim! Here’s hoping Ty gets his wish!
