Without doubt at every wedding consultation I hold with a prospective bride and groom, I’ll suggest that it’s what goes on beyond or behind them that sometimes interests me as much as the foreground. For it’s this part of the story I often get the most joy from capturing for my clients. This reportage wedding capture beautifully tells a story of the relationship between three people during the most intimate exchange of the ceremony; the vows. Bride Laura is entirely unaware of her mother and father’s experience just five or six feet away. Her father looks entirely lost in his thoughts. What he’s thinking I don’t know, but I would imagine all the years of watching Laura grow, learn and flourish have met during one moment at that time and the empathy being shared by his wife in her glance is simply a cherished capture for me. It’s a palpable composition, where the eyes do all the talking. A worthy inclusion in this year long diary of my favourite shots.
